Broome County Child Advocacy Center

Child Advocacy Center
Child Advocacy Center
The Broome County Child Advocacy Center provides a safe and welcoming environment for victims of child abuse and maltreatment, by coordinating services at a single, child-friendly facility. Our purpose is to reduce trauma, promote accountability, and facilitate healing. We work closely with a multidisciplinary team that are true champions for the protection, support, and empowerment of children. The team is comprised of victim advocates, forensic interviewers, medical and mental health professionals, law enforcement, child protective services, prosecutors, and legal advocates. The center first opened in July 1997, and over the past 28 years, more than 5,800 children have come through its doors.
Begin the healing process
The Broome Child Advocacy Center aims to start the healing process for child victims, and their families, as soon as possible. Our goals include:
In order for a child to be interviewed at the CHILD ADVOCACY CENTER, incidents of suspected child abuse must first be reported, either to the New York State Child Abuse Hotline, or to law enforcement.
Safe Harbour program
Safe Harbour program
Crime Victim Assistance Center’s Safe Harbour Program works with partners across Broome County to promote awareness of human trafficking and provides comprehensive services to youth at-risk of exploitation.
We offer trainings on emerging trends in online safety, including sexting, grooming, and sextortion, for schools and youth-serving organizations.
We can provide support for youth in obtaining medical care, counseling, case management services, referrals for safe housing, advocacy, and basic care needs.
